Truth & Reconciliation Day

On Friday, September 29th, SPC closed its doors in lieu of Truth and Reconciliation Day. On Thursday, orange shirts were worn to show our awareness of the dark history of residential schools in Canada.

Truth and Reconciliation Day is a solemn occasion when people across Canada come together to reflect upon and acknowledge the painful legacy of residential schools.

On this significant day, all students, faculty and staff members at SPC worn orange shirts to pay tribute to the Indigenous children who were forcibly separated from their families and subjected to cultural assimilation, abuse, and neglect within the residential school system.

These orange shirts remind us of the profound impact these schools had on Indigenous communities and the ongoing need for healing, understanding, and reconciliation.
