Other Information
What's the difference between Scholastica and Severin?
Similarities
Both residences offer a private room for students to make their own. Each room has a desk, bed, chair, dresser, and openable window. Each residence also offers a small kitchenette with a fridge, freezer, toaster oven, keurig, kettle, and more.Â
Students do not need to pay additional costs or fees for electricity, heating, internet, water, or laundry services. Both offer free parking, though stalls with electricity for block heaters come at an additional cost of $100 / year.Â
All students are still required to be on a meal plan.
Both residences are close enough to michael hall that students can go from their rooms to the kitchen or their classrooms in a matter of seconds.
Differences
Severin hall offers private sinks in their room and gives students the choice between shared or private bathrooms, whereas scholastica does not have private sinks and students must share bathrooms with another student. In Severin, students will share with, on average, four other students of the same gender, whereas in Scholastica they will share a bathroom with one other student.
The other difference is that scholastica is located off-site (albeit a 10 second walk away) whereas severin hall is attached directly to the college. This means that students in scholastica will have to be outside for several seconds when they wish to enter the college for classes or meal times.Â
