St. Peter’s College announces the Clem and Hedy Gerwing Education Trust Fund

St. Peter's College provides an additional $26,000 to students thanks to the Clem and Hedy Gerwing Education Trust Fund

St. Peter’s College is pleased to announce the establishment of the Clem and Hedy Gerwing Education Trust Fund resulting in the creation of a series of student bursaries totaling a minimum of $26,000 annually. These awards have been made available through an ongoing trust fund provided by the generosity of the Clem and Hedy Gerwing Family.

Clement and Hedy Gerwing, originally from the Lake Lenore area, have had a strong connection to St. Peter’s College with Clem having attended St. Peter’s College at a time when the Second World War was raging. Clem enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and was assigned to the 17th Fighter Squadron. Through the trials of his war experiences, Clem fondly recalled his time at the College as “one of the most peaceful and memorable times of his life.” Clem and Hedy both felt that“his time at St. Peter’s was a perfect preparation for a fulfilling and successful life.”

The Clem and Hedy Gerwing Bursaries will be structured as two $7,000 annual awards and three $4,000 annual awards available to successful first time applicants to St. Peter’s College. Other criteria include financial need, Canadian citizenship or demonstrated desire for citizenship, and full-time student status. With the addition of the Clem and Hedy Gerwing Bursaries, the combined award pool available exclusively to St. Peter’s College students is approximately $70,000.
