St. Peter's College was happy to host a three-day writing workshop, which focused on the young adults genre, by award winning author Arthur Slade. Slade, a resident of Saskatoon, has published eighteen novels through a variety of series since beginning his career. Some of his more notable publications, such as Dust (winner of the Governor General's Award for Children's Literature) and The Hunchback Assignments (winner of the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award) have inspired youth and young adults across the country.
Attendees of the workshop had favourable comments and praise for the workshop and for Slade, such as Rhiannon Brady stating that "This workshop met my expectations when it comes to any workshop, but exceeds by how Art Slade makes each student come in to get one-on-one time with him. Getting feedback and criticism was a pleasure." Brady, a young writer herself, notes that she most enjoyed "Art Slade's upbeat character and personality, as he welcomes people right off the bat." Another attendee, Sarah Miller, noted that "as this was my first workshop, I was not sure what to expect, but I have enjoyed this a lot. I have learnt quite a bit and it also gave me more inspiriation to continue with my projects."
St. Peter's College has been host to writing workshops, diplomas, and classes for many years. Students from across the province come to study under the watchful eye of experts in the field.
