Medieval Feast 2025 – A Journey Back in Time

On Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday St. Peter’s College hosted the Annual Medieval Feast. As always, the Feast was a hit. Students, staff, faculty and members from the St. Peter’s Abbey all gather together to celebrate the last day before Lent and the 40-day fast. This special party brings everyone back a few decades to the Middle Ages where Kings & Queens ruled, and everyone gathered to feast together.

Master of Ceremonies, Kassie Moisan did a fantastic job at setting the scene and keeping the event lively. This year we had a new addition to the ever so great event; the Humboldt Theatre Club joined us and performed a wonderful pantomime that had the crowd smiling with laughter. The most important part of the evening, of course, is the food. St. Peter’s Kitchen made the entire meal including flavorful chicken, delightfully homemade Mac ‘n’ Cheese, and a fantastic vegetable medley with peas, carrots and parsnips. While the guests enjoyed their feast, they were entertained with live music played by two of the St. Peter’s Abbey monks: Br. Kurt VanKuren and Br. Benedict VanGinkel. These two wonderful men have a great musical aptitude to take music from the current time period feel more medieval and graceful for the event.

One of the most beloved games played at the St. Peter’s College Annual Medieval Feast is called “Pass the Parcel”. During this game students are gathered in a circle on the floor to try and unwrap two special gifts. To make things tricky, students must wear oven mitts! This year’s prizes were a custom designed tumbler and a custom designed external hard drive.

The evening ended with a new tradition of students, staff and faculty all lining up to take pictures with the new photo cut-out boards and props! Truly an evening to remember.

You’ll see lots of happy faces and memorable moments, reminding you of the amazing time everyone had at the Medieval feast. Enjoy browsing through the image gallery of the event below.
