Canadian Red Cross Delivers Hands-On AED & CPR Training at St. Peter’s College

This week, staff from the College, monks from the Abbey, and members of the Kitchen team came together for a special two-hour training session led by the Canadian Red Cross. The workshop focused on essential life-saving skills, giving participants the confidence to act quickly and safely during an emergency.

The Red Cross instructor guided the group through the basics of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Participants learned how to recognize when CPR is needed, how to perform it effectively, and how an AED can make a critical difference in saving a life. The session also covered important steps to follow when calling for help, along with clear actions to take before emergency responders arrive.

Hands-on practice allowed everyone, from staff to monks, to build familiarity and comfort with the equipment and techniques. The training created a shared sense of preparedness across the campus community, equipping participants with vital knowledge that can make a life-saving difference.

This collaborative session emphasized an important message: in an emergency, quick action and basic training can save lives. The College extends its gratitude to the Canadian Red Cross for providing such an impactful and practical workshop.
