On Wednesday, February 24the Humboldt and District Gallery hosted a terrific opening to the exhibition of work by drawing and painting students of St. Peter’s College.
The evening event was open to the public, and more than sixty people were on hand to view the art and listen to readings. Grant McConnell and Clint Hunker, both professional artists who teach in the Fine Arts Department at St. Peter’s, worked with the gallery’s cultural programmer Nicole Myker to arrange the event. This is the tenth year that the college’s students have had their art appear in a show in Humboldt.
The audience was entertained by Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild members Caelan Reilly, Bruce Rice, Shelley Banks, Barbara Langhorst, David Carpenter, and Tara Dawn Solheim. All of the readers thanked the gallery and the organizers, and commented on the fine programs and atmosphere at St. Peter’s, where the Guild holds its retreat every February.
St. Peter’s College demonstrates its strong commitment to the fine arts by offering not only credit and audit courses in drawing, painting, and writing, but also drama, music history, and art history.
The show runs to March 24th, 2016.For further information about programs and events, please contact Maury Wrubleski at 306-682-7870 or Andrew Hartman at 306-682-7857.
